The Return of Opus and Bill

The Pulitzer Prize-winning comic strip Bloom County will be re-launched on the web this month. Beginning March 17, subscription-based www.mycomicspage.com will offer the full run of Berkeley Breathed’s famous strip, which was retired in 1989.

Breathed will eventually make the entire Bloom County and Outland collection available digitally through his partnership with uclick, which also intends to re-publish the cartoonist’s rarely-seen 1978-1979 college strip Academic Waltz.

Since closing the book on Bloom County and Outland, Breathed wrote and produced the animated TV special A Wish for Wings That Work (1991) and the cartoon short Edward Fudwupper Fibbed Big (2001). He has also published several children’s books, launched his website at www.berkeleybreathed.com and is currently developing a film project around Bloom County‘s famous penguin, Opus.

For $9.95 a year, subscribers of www.mycomicspage.com can access more than 140 nationally syndicated comic strips and editorial cartoons on the web or vial e-mail delivery.
