Spider-Man DVD Owners Get Online Treat

December 6, 2002 by Ryan Ball divider image

Even if you’ve been through every inch of your two-disc Special Edition Spider-Man DVD, you’re not done with it yet. Columbia TriStar Home Ent. and Cingular Wireless are joining forces to present a world-premiere online event to feature exclusive commentary by actor Tobey Maguire on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. EST.

“The ‘Spider-Man’ DVD-ROM Online Theatre,” will incorporate playback of the DVD with a streamed online audio commentary in Windows Media featuring the film’s star, along with JK Simmons, who played J. Jonah Jameson, editor of the Daily Bugle. The commentary portion of the event will start at 8:00 p.m. EST, and is only available to those who have the DVD in their PC DVD-ROM drive at that time.

Through the “Countdown to ‘Spider-Man 2′” link on disc one of the Special Edition DVD, fans can log on at 7:30 p.m. EST, prior to the start of the online commentary to access all pre-show activities. These will include an introduction from Simmons revealing the DVD’s hidden Easter Eggs, previews for the DVD release of XXX and the summer theatrical release of Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and an enter-to-win sweepstakes with prizes to include a walk-on role in the Spider-Man sequel or a signed, framed piece of one of the original Spidey costumes.

For complete details on how to participate in the event, consumers can get step-by-step instructions by logging on to sony.com/spiderman.
