Animation vets Mike and Tim Rauch and Bill Wray have animated a new short for StoryCorps.
The short, titled Facundo the Great, is one of many stories adapted to animation by the national nonprofit oral history organization.
The short tells the tale of Ramòn “Chunky” Sanchez, who was raised in a small farming community in southern California in the 1950s. As was common practice at that time, teachers at his local elementary school Anglicized the Mexican-American students’ names. Chunky came to StoryCorps to remember a classmate who proved to be the exception to the rule.
