Warner Premiere and U.K.-based band One Eskimo are mixing animation and music into a new experience the company is calling a ‘visual album.’
The idea, which originated with the band’s lead singer Kristian Leonitiou and called The Adventures of One Eskimo, is comprised of a series of short animated musical episodes set to debut on Aug. 31.
The animation is produced by Passion Pictures, which also did the award-winning videos for the band Gorillaz.
The series will debut on iTunes and other channels, and can be pre-ordered at http://tinyurl.com/oneeskimorelease.
The animation ties in with the release of the band’s first album, due out in September from Shangri-La Records and a subsequent tour with Tori Amos. The project also will be supported by online games at www.findlittlefeather.com.
‘We believe there is an opportunity for music and narrative to be combined into a new category of storytelling for digital mediums,’ said Diane Nelson, president of Warner Premiere. ‘We’re looking forward to launching this series in September and working with additional artists on similar projects in the future.’
