The Jim Henson Co. is beginning production on a second season of its web-only animated social studios series Wilson & Ditch: Digging America for PBSKidsGo.org.
The series features two brothers who tour the country in a green-powered van and visit major cities, parks and other attractions.
The new season will see the pair visit Seattle; Chicago; Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.; Bryce and Zion national parks and North Carolina’s Outer Banks. The season also will see the debut of two new online games as well as fresh content for Wilson’s travel blog, the Local Chow feature and content for parents and teachers.
The webisodes feature the voices of Brian Henson and Paul Rugg as Wilson and Ditch, and is animated by the Henson Digital Puppetry Studio.
PBS’s children’s websites, including PBSKIDSGO.org, receive an average of 9 million unique visitors per month and the video players deliver an average of 50 million streams per month.
Wilson & Ditch: Digging America was created by Joe Purdy and Craig Bartlett. Purdy is writing the webisodes and the blogs. Andrew Dickman will be creating the site’s original comic strip material.
