Mamoru Oshii, director of the anime cult favorite, Ghost in the Shell, and writer/director of the eagerly awaited sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, will answer fan questions online. The Q& A session will take place through the movie’s official message board at www.ghost2.com/board/showthread.php?t=62.
Admirers of Oshii’s work can post questions for the filmmaker on the message board by Sunday, September 5th. Oshii will then select the ten best queries and post his answers online.
Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence is set in the year 2032, when the line between humans and machines has been blurred almost beyond recognition and certain prototype robots have begun killing their owners. Taking up the case is Section 9, an elite group of government operatives that includes a loner named Batou, whose former partner was the focus of the first Ghost in the Shell feature.
Innocence was the first anime film to compete for the coveted Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It will also screen at the Toronto Film Festival (Sept. 9-18) before being released in U.S. theaters on Sept. 17 by Go Fish Pictures, a division of DreamWorks Pictures that launched last year with the release of Satoshi Kon’s anime masterpiece, Millennium Actress.
