Frank and Ollie Animate the Web

As we prepare the Animation Magazine special tribute to Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston issue, the legendary Disney animators invite you to visit their website at www.FrankAnOllie.com

Frank and Ollie designed the site themselves, with technical assistance from friend and partner Mike Clark. Features include biographies, filmographies, tips for animators and a “work in progress” area featuring video. The contacts page of the site includes email addresses for Frank and Ollie so visitors can send special greetings to their heroes.

On Wednesday, April 9, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present “Frank and Ollie: Drawn Together,” part of the 8th Marc Davis Lecture on Animation. The event will be held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at 8:00 p.m.

Film critic Leonard Maltin will moderate as Frank and Ollie reflect on their careers and the art of animation. Commentary and analysis will also be provided by L.A. Times animation critic Charles Solomon and some of today’s top animators including Brad Bird (Iron Giant, The Simpsons), John Canemaker (Bottom’s Dream, Street Freaks), Ron Clements (Treasure Planet, Aladdin) John Lasseter (Toy Story, Monsters Inc.), Glen Keane (Tarzan, Pocahontas) and Andy Gaskill (Hercules, The Lion King).
