CBS On Broadband Wagon

CBS Corp. has launched ‘Innertube,’ its own on broadband channel dedicated to original web series and repurposed TV content. Available on the CBS.com home page, the ad-supported outlet currently streams three shows a day, and will eventually include animation.

One toon series in the works for Innertube is Animate This!, a comedy show that will have celebrities narrating animated stories form their real lives. Live-action offerings will include a behind-the-scenes look at Survivor, a college makeover show titled Greek to Chic, and BBQ Bill, a sketch comedy series with Rick Najera (A Day Without a Mexican).

In addition to providing new content, Innertube will serve as a salvage yard of sorts for CBS. Starting later this month, visitors will be able to catch streaming episodes of the reality series Fire Me … Please, which the network cancelled last year after airing only a few episodes. Fans of the axed romantic comedy series Love Monkey will also be able to catch up on lost installments. Conversely, if original online programs become popular enough, they may end up joining the TV lineup.
