Cartoon Network Sues Porn Site

October 5, 2007 by Ryan Ball divider image

As Time Warner’s Cartoon Network faces legal action over a song spoof used in an episode of Family Guy, the broadcast outlet has reportedly initiated a lawsuit of its own. To avoid being mistakenly associated with smut peddling, the network has taken steps to stop a Canadian internet company from using the name Adult Cartoon Network, according to www.ioltechnology.co.za.

Based in British Columbia, Adult Cartoon Network sells pay-per-view pornographic comics and animated movies. Cartoon Network feels the confusingly similar branding could tarnish its image, and expressed that concern in papers filed in a federal court in Atlanta. Adult Cartoon Network filed a trademark application in 2005 and plans to fight the suit.
