Director Michael Bay has inked a deal that makes leading Chinese entertainment website Mtime the official Chinese-language carrier of content from www.michaelbay.com. The deal was made in conjunction with the July 11 Chinese release of Bay’s latest blockbuster, Transformers.
‘I am really excited about this partnership with Mtime and the exposure of my work and thoughts to Chinese movie fans, for whom I have great respect,’ says Bay, who offers news blogs, press releases, biographical material and video on his official web site.
Bay is best known for his bombastic style of action filmmaking, and his movies have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. In addition to helming such hits as Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and The Island, he has produced the recent Amityville Horror and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes through his Platinum Dunes production banner. Based on the classic toy line and animated series, Transformers was released by Paramount in the U.S. on July 3 and has raked in approximately $384 million worldwide.
Founded in 2004, Mtime is a movie information and community portal that attracts more than 35 million unique visitors and receives 400 million page views each month, according to the company. Located on the web at www.mtime.com, the entity provides film information, news and reviews for such sites as MSN, Yahoo and Baidu.
