Online animation network Aniboom (aniboom.com) has announced the ten semifinalists in its animated music video competition revolving around the new Radiohead album, In Rainbows. The site invited fans across the globe to create their own videos for any of the songs from the release, and ended up receiving more than 900 entries from 47 countries since the first stage of the competition launched five weeks ago.
A panel including staff of Aniboom, TBD Records and Adult Swim selected the semifinalists, who have been awarded $1,000 each to produce a one-minute animated music video based on their storyboards. The selected videos will be shared across Aniboom’s network of online distribution partners, and fans will be given the opportunity to vote at aniboom.com and at MySpace. The videos will then be submitted to the members of Radiohead, who will have the ultimate word on who gets the grand prize of $10,000 to be used to produce the full-length music video. The winning video may also have enjoy a broadcast premiere on Adult Swim.
The competition remains open to all creators. Additional one-minute animated music videos can be submitted by aspiring filmmakers for viewing and ranking at Aniboom.com for a chance to land the remaining spot in the finals.
