Manga Films Gets Kill Bill for Spanish Market

November 26, 2003 by Ryan Ball divider image

Daily Variety reports that indie distributor Manga Films has licensed the Spanish theatrical and home video rights to Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. The Miramax Films release features anime sequences by Production IG.

It is not known at this time whether or not the deal will lead to a long-term arrangement between the two companies. Manga may fill the Spanish distribution spot left vacant by Lauren Films, which Miramax recently dropped. Miramax is rumored to be in talks to with several other independents to distribute multiple titles in Spain. Spain’s Lord of the Rings outlet, Aurum Producciones, and Barcelona mini-studio Filmax Group are also named as possible candidates. Miramax also as a Spanish distribution deal in place with Buena Vista Int’l.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 will screen on Saturday at the Sitges Catalonia Intl. Film Festival.
