Venice, Calif.-based animation and effects house Blur Studio has produced its first computer animated short. Like Sony Pictures Imageworks’ The ChubbChubbs, Blur’s Aunt Luisa will be a lead-in to the studio’s foray into animated features.
Produced entirely in-house, Aunt Luisa is about an aging widow who, through a scotch-induced haze, has become convinced that bandleader Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians have taken up residence in her house. The 3-minute film was one of nine films short-listed for Academy Award consideration. The film will also do the festival circuit later this year.
Aunt Luisa was written by Blur Studio creative director Tim Miller and directed by Miller and Paul Taylor. Sherry Wallace served as producer. Blur Studio is currently planning the production of additional short films.
