AnimeNation Releases First Anime Series

February 3, 2003 by Ryan Ball divider image

AnimeNation makes its first foray into translation and distribution of Japanese animation in the American marketplace with the acquisition of Omishi Magical Theater: Risky Safety. The exclusive DVD will be the debut release from newly created AN Entertainment, AnimeNation’s home entertainment subsidiary devoted to providing Japanese animation to English speaking viewers.

Broadcast on Japanese television between October 1999 and April 2000, Risky Safety is based on a comic book story created by Ray Omishi, the creator of popular and successful anime series Sorcerer Hunters. The 24 episode tale revolves around junior high school girl Moe Katsuragi whose soul gets caught in a tug-of-war between devilish death spirit Risky and angelic apprentice angel Safety. In true anime form, the story of fate, love, friendship and the cosmic balance of the universe also involves a few giant monsters.
