TLC Ent. Finalizes Casting For Kids’ Ten Commandments

Independent family entertainment studio TLC Ent. has added Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Lady in Lady and the Tramp II, to the voice cast of its latest project, Kids’ Ten Commandments. Produced in association with SMEC Media and RichCrest Animation, the five-part mini-movie series will also feature the voices Smallville‘s John Schneider and Providence star George Newbern.

Benson gives voice to several commanding characters throughout the series. She and Schneider also perform original songs, including a duet in one of the series’ installments.

Other celebrities participating in the project include Tim Curry (The Wild Thornberrys, Family Affair), Peter Strauss (Rich Man, Poor Man), Paul Winfield (Sounder, King), Tom Bosley (Happy Days), Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba), Rene Auberjonois (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Chris Marquette (Gepetto), Mona Marshall (Monsters, Inc., Treasure Planet) and Brian Cummings (Fern Gully), who provides the voice of God for the series.

Kids’ Ten Commandments combines 3D and 2D animation to tell the

story of how the Hebrew prophet Moses was called upon by God to deliver guiding principals for mankind. TLC developed the concept and storyline with the help of an advisory board comprised of leading pastors, rabbis, educators and Bible scholars.

Kids’ Ten Commandments is slated for general consumer release in 2004. Tyndale Ent. will be handling a specialty market release to Christian retailers starting next month.
