The Wild Thornberrys Movie Comes Home

The first big-screen outing for the family of wildlife documentary filmmakers known as The Wild Thornberrys makes its DVD and VHS debut today. Based on the popular Nickelodeon series, the animated feature boasts a star-studded voice cast and a stellar soundtrack that includes the Oscar-nominated song "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon.

In The Wild Thornberrys Movie, young heroine Eliza Thornberry, who has the power to communicate with animals, goes head-to-head with ruthless poachers to save a cheetah cub and a herd of elephants. Along the way, she endures a brief stint at a crusty London boarding school and weathers the comic shenanigans of her pet chimp, Darwin. The film was produced by Nickelodeon Pictures and Klasky Csupo for Paramount.

Brenda Blethyn, Lynn Redgrave, Marissa Tomei, Rupert Everett, Alfre Woodard and LL Cool J join series regulars Tim Curry, Jodi Carlisle, Lacy Chabert, Tom Kane, Danielle Harris and Flea as the whole family undertakes an adventure that spans the vast plains and dense jungles of Africa.

DVD extra features include the music video for Father and Daughter, The Wild Thornberrys Game and the theatrical trailer. The Paramount Home Video release lists for $29.99 DVD and $20.99 VHS.

The Thornberrys will be back in theaters this summer when they meet the Rugrats in Rugrats Go Wild. The film is slated for a mid-June release.
