Distributor Ten-Strike Home Entertainment has acquired the exclusive U.S. distribution rights to the complete series of DIC Ent.’s Liberty’s Kids, which airs on PBS. The company plans to release the show on DVD and VHS on June 29 to coincide with the Independence Day holiday.
Liberty’s Kids, which debuted in 2002, follows the history of the American Revolution through the eyes of two young apprentice journalists working in Benjamin Franklin’s print shop in Philadelphia. The star-studded voice cast is led by legendary newscaster Walter Cronkite, who stars in each episode as Benjamin Franklin. The series also features Michael Douglas as Patrick Henry, Warren Buffett as James Madison, Dustin Hoffman as Benedict Arnold, Whoopi Goldberg as Deborah Samson, Billy Crystal as John Adams, Annette Bening as Abigail Adams, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Baron von Steuben, Ben Stiller as Thomas Jefferson, Maria Shriver as Peggy Shippen, Liam Neeson as John Paul Jones and Sylvester Stallone as Paul Revere.
The first three volumes to be released are The First Fourth of July, Boston Tea Party–The Movie and Give Me Liberty. Extra features will include interviews with Cronkite, behind-the-scenes footage, cast information and interactive games.
