Terminator2: Judgment Day broke new ground in the use of digital visual effects technology. Now Artisan Home Entertainment Inc. is set to bring something new to the DVD world with the release of an “extreme edition” of the film. This two-disc DVD set that will feature a digitally re-mastered theatrical version of the film in high-definition video and full surround sound on a single DVD-ROM in Microsoft Windows Media 9 Series. Consumers using Windows XP-based computers will be able to view the film at nearly three and a half times the resolution of standard DVD video.
Extra features include 16 minutes of additional footage never seen in theaters; all-new audio commentary with director and writer James Cameron and co-writer William Wisher; an extreme interactive mode with graphic commentary and rare behind-the-scenes footage; an all-new documentary on the role of T2 in the evolution of digital effects and modern filmmaking; and a special-effects studio where viewers can morph their imported images into a T-1000 or a T-800 Terminator.
T2: Extreme DVD will be available in the United States and Canada on June 3 for the suggested retail price of $29.98.
