Robotech Remastered Coming to DVD

Anime distribution powerhouse ADV Films announced plans to release Robotech Remastered: Extended Edition, a complete remastering of all three acts of Harmony Gold’s classic’80s animated series. The first DVD volume will include the first 12 episodes on two discs and will go on sale everywhere January 27, 2004.

This newest release features a digital transfer from the original film stock and includes footage cut from the original broadcast version. In addition, the audio has been restored and remixed. Two new audio tracks will be included; the original English-language dub in digital 5.1 sound and a Spanish-language digital 5.1 track. English subtitles will also be available.

Robotech is an intergalactic mecha drama that spans generations over the course of three acts: The Macross Saga, Robotech Masters and New Generation. The saga begins in the year 1999, when a massive alien battlecruiser crash-lands on Earth in the midst of a bloody global war. With the possibility of a more perilous threat looming, the human race puts aside its differences and collectively undertakes the arduous task of rebuilding the spacecraft for the purpose of defending the Earth should its extraterrestrial masters come to reclaim it. When that day comes, the rebuilt ship’s inexperienced crew, led by hotshot pilot Rick Hunter and war hero Roy Fokker, launches the battlecruiser into war.

Robotech Remastered: Extended Edition runs 300 minutes and will retail for the suggested price of $29.98.
