Powerpuff Girls, Pooh Hit the DVD Screens Today

Fans of Craig McCracken’s groundbreaking Cartoon Network series The Powerpuff Girls can check out the the complete first season of the show on a new DVD out in stores today. First introduced in 1998, the show follows the adventures of three superheroic little girls (Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup) as they try to save the world from evil before bedtime. The first 13 episodes of the toon are included in this special 2-DVD box set. The Emmy-winning show also comes with audio commentary from McCracken, fun challenges and the music video “Apple in Stereo”. This collector’s edition from Turner Home Entertainment carries a $26.98 price tag.

A.A. Milne’s gentle bear and his pals from the 100 Acre Wood also gets a special DVD treatment today. Disney’s The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Friendship Edition ($29.99) features a collection of animated toons showcasing the famous “Bear of Very Little Brain.” Included in this 74-minute DVD release are award-winning 2D shorts such as The Honey Tree, The Blustery Day and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too. These storybooks are presented in seamless chapters narrated by the late Sebastian Cabot. Sterling Halloway and Paul Winchell deliver the recognizable voices of Pooh and Tigger respectively. Other bonus goods include the short A Day for Eeyore, the making-of featurette The Story Behind the Masterpiece, The 100 Acres Wood Challenge game, an art gallery, sing-along song, a Pooh-themed music video by Carly Simon, and a new episode from the CG-animated Disney Channel show My Friends Tigger & Pooh.
