Latest Mummy Unravels on DVD

With more than 1.2 billion earned at the box office worldwide, Universal’s The Mummy franchise will surely spin off more CG-laden sequels. In the meantime, fans of action, adventure and visual effects can pick up The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The flick is available today as a single-disc release or a two-disc deluxe edition loaded with bonus features.

Brendan Fraser is battling resurrected evil again, joined this time by Maria Bello and martial arts stars Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. Li plays an evil Chinese Emperor brought back to life to continue his quest for world domination. Rhythm & Hues and Digital Domain handled most of the visual effects work.

The single-disc version offers deleted and extended scenes, and feature commentary with director Rob Cohen. The deluxe edition retails for $34.98 and adds the featurettes Preparing for Battle with Brendan Fraser and Jet Li, The Making of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Jet Li: Crafting the Emperor Mummy, Creating New and Supernatural Worlds, Legacy of the Tera Cotta and A Call to Action: The Casting Process, plus a digital copy of the movie and more. Exclusive to the $39.98 Blu-ray edition are interactive U-Control features and additional material available via BD-Live connectivity.
