Warner Home Video wants you to get reacquainted with George Jetson, Jane his wife and the rest of the family when it releases two new titles in the Hanna-Barbera Golden Collection DVD series. The Jetsons: The Complete First Season and Jonny Quest: Season One will be available for the first time as digitally re-mastered four-disc collectors DVD sets on May 11.
A 21st Century counterpoint to The Flintstones, The Jetsons (1962) takes the all-American Family to the ultra-convenient future where flying cars, floating cities and androids make life easier but do little to eliminate the follies of raising a family. Though the animated series only lasted one full season, the episodes continued to air on the network for more than 15 years. The new DVD will include all 24 installments and a host of bonus features including commentary by Janet Waldo (Judy Jetson), several featurettes and character bios, for a running time of 624 minutes.
Jonny Quest (1964) follows the adventures of a boy who tags along with dad on government assignments. Joining him in his detective work are ex-agent "Race" Bannon, Indian boy Hadji and family bulldog Bandit. The DVD features all 26 classic episodes from the first season, as well as Quest Files: Fun Facts & Trivia, a featurette on animators titled Adventures in Animation: A Cartoon Called Quest, an original commercial spot for P.F. Flyer Sneaker and the Jonny Quest Video Handbook with bios on heroes, villains and locations. It runs 676 minutes.
Each set will list for $64.92.
