Warner Bros Animation has hooked us up with some of the first images from the highly anticipated animated movie Batman: Gotham Knight. The anime-infused film will be available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as OnDemand, pay-per-view and download, on July 8. Marking a departure from the style Warner Bros. Animation has established for its superhero franchises, the studio has teamed with leading Japanese anime creators to weave six interlocking Batman stories. Studio 4′C, Production I.G and Madhouse are working on the animation, with direction by anime veterans Shojiro Nishimi (Tekkonkinkreet animation director), Futoshi Higashide (Jaianto robo: Animeshon animator), Hiroshi Morioka (Tsubasa Chronicle director), Yasuhiro Aoki (The Animatrixv animator) and Toshiyuki Kubooka (Fushigi no umi no Nadia animation director). Individual stories were written by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Josh Olson (A History of Violence), David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), Emmy winner Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), Jordan Goldberg (associate producer of the upcoming live-action film The Dark Knight), and award-winning comic-book writers Greg Rucka and Brian Azzarello
