Batman: Under the Red Hood Lands on Disc

If all the Comic-Con coverage has left you hungry for some prime superheroic fare, then you’ll just have to get your hands on the new Warner Bros. DVD/Blu-ray release Batman: Under the Red Hood which lands on stores and Netflix today.

Directed by Brandon Vietti (Superman/Doomsday, The Batman) and produced by industry legend Bruce Timm, this eighth Warner Premiere title offers a rousing storyline penned by comic-book artist Judd Winick. You may also remember Winick from MTV’s Real World: San Francisco and his Cartoon Network series The Life and Times of Juniper Lee. The impressive voice cast includes Bruce Greenwood as The Dark Knight himself, John DiMaggio as The Joker, Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing, Jensen Acles as Red Hood and Jason Isaacs as Ra’s al Ghul. The two-disc DVD sells for $24.98 (but you can get it for about $16 on amazon), while the Blu-ray disc will set you back $28.99 (or $19.99 on amazon).

Also out on DVD and Blu-ray today is the remake of Clash of the Titans ($28.98) which received some critical bashing because of its lackluster and murky stereoscopic 3-D convergence. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the film tells the tale of Perseus (played by Avatar’s Sam Worthington) who doesn’t realize that Zeus is his father (Liam Neeson). Of course, you may do the smart thing and just watch the 1981 original, which stars Harry Hamlin and Lawrence Olivier and features some awesome stop-motion effects, courtesy of the real titan of the art form, Ray Harryhausen.
