In a recent interview with Empire magazine, auteur filmmaker Quentin Tarantino revealed plans for an animated prequel to his two-part revenge saga Kill Bill.
If it gets made, it will reportedly focus on Bill and his assassin training at the hands of Estebian Vihaio, Hattori Hanzo and Pai Mei. The film would be drawn in the anime style like the animated sequence produced by Production I.G. in Kill Bill Vol. 1.
Tarantino has also hinted at a possible Kill Bill sequel that may focus on the daughter of Vernita Green (Vivica A Fox), whom Uma Thurman’s character kills in the first installment.
Warner Bros. set a new trend with the direct-to-video animated Matrix sequel/prequel The Animatrix. The success of that release has led Universal to greenlight toon prequels to its upcoming effects flicks Van Helsing and The Chronicles of Riddick.
