U.S anime distributor ADV Films has picked up exclusive North American home video and broadcast rights for the animated action-adventure series Chrono Crusade. The show will air on The Anime Network and will be available on DVD and VHS sometime later this year.
Chrono Crusade takes place in 1920s New York City. With the Great War firmly behind it, America enjoys a period of great peace and prosperity. But lurking in the shadows is a sinister demon horde ready to prey on society. Standing in its way are gun-slinging nun Sister Rosette Christopher and her partner, Chrono. The duo of exorcists with the Convent of Magdalene are city’s first line of defense against evil but somehow tend to cause more rampant collateral damage than their hell-spawn foes.
Chrono Crusade recently made its Japanese television debut. The animation was handled by Gonzo Digimation (Full Metal Panic!, Hellsing, Kaleido Star).
ADV Manga already held rights to Daisuke Moriyama’s Chrono Crusade manga series, which is set for North American release on May 25.
