With great power comes great responsibility. Gamers everywhere are learning that as they get behind the mask and control a superhero’s every move in the Spider-Man 2 game from Activision Inc. The company today announced that its North American publishing unit has shipped more than two million units of the title, which was released in conjunction with the theatrical bow of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Columbia Pictures blockbuster sequel.
The game lets players experience what it’s like to be the wall-climbing web slinger as they swing from buildings, dive from rooftops and scale the heights of Manhattan, a living, breathing borough complete with pedestrians, traffic, trains and helicopters. Gamers can re-live the film’s storyline or embark on exclusive missions that involve performing heroic deeds and facing off against the nefarious Doc Ock and other Marvel super villains.
Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube is rated T for Teen due to some violent content, while the Game Boy Advance and PC versions are recommended for everyone. Read about the making of the game in the September issue of Animation Magazine.
