Slappy Pictures Unleashes Animated Wrath

To create animated mythological creatures for their upcoming action/strategy title Wrath Unleashed, LucasArts and The Collective commissioned Slappy Pictures LLC. The game is expected to ship in this winter for PlayStation2 and Xbox.

Slappy was brought on by developer The Collective to provide CG animation for several of the in-game characters, as well as animation direction for the entire project.

"The game has quite a range of creatures–everything from relatively straight human characters to elemental beasts made of water and fire," says Slappy Pictures animation director Mike Dietz. "The Collective did a great job designing the creatures and the worlds they inhabit."

Slappy animators Sean Burns, Scot Phelps, Jeff Riley and Rob Shaw completed their work exclusively in Maya. The Collective’s crew, Paul Belmore, Ed Schofield, Paul Lee, Santosh Omen and Michael Gates, employed both Maya and 3ds max. Cory Rierson serves as producer and Dan Mycka is art lead for The Collective.
