Simon & Shuster Close Book on Games Unit

September 16, 2003 by Ryan Ball divider image

Reuters reports that Viacom book publishing unit Simon & Schuster has begun selling off its video game division. A spokesperson is quoted saying the company is in discussions with potential buyers after deciding that interactive entertainment wasn’t a core business.

Two games are still in development at Simon & Schuster, best known in the gaming industry for games such as Outlaw Golf and Outlaw Volleyball.

The news follows the sale of Fox Interactive to Vivendi Universal Games, which has itself been up for bids at various times.
