Riddick Game Arrives in Stores

Vivendi Universal Games has shipped The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay for Xbox. Based on the upcoming feature film, The Chronicles of Riddick (June 11), and the direct-to-DVD anime prequel, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (June 15), the game was developed with Vin Diesel’s video game production company, Trigon Studios.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay serves as a prequel to all the other Riddick projects and explores the origins of the man with the see-in-the-dark eyes, who first appeared in director David Twohy’s 2000 sci-fi sleeper hit Pitch Black.

As Riddick, players must break out of the galaxy’s most deadly prison in this first person action title that blends shooter action with stealth and hand-to-hand combat elements. Diesel lends his voice and likeness to the title character, a convict who had a prison doctor do a "shine job" on his eyes so he would know when an enemy is trying to sneak up on him in this completely dark correctional facility.

Also reprising his role from Pitch Black is actor Cole Hauser as shifty lawman Johns. The game’s voice cast also includes Hellboy star Ron Perlman, Chronicles of Riddick co-star Kristen Lehman and hip-hop artist Xzibit.

More than 30 levels span three unique Maximum Security, Double-Max and Triple-Max prison areas where gamers must defeat 20 different types of enemies using 15 different weapons including homemade shivs and high-powered assault rifles.
