One of the year’s most anticipated games is ready to take gamers back to Mars for more terror and first-person shooter action. Activision Inc. and id Software today released the sci-fi horror sequel, DOOM 3, for PC.
According to id Software, DOOM 3 utilizes the company’s revolutionary new 3D graphics engine to take the action and horror to a whole new level. The game casts the player as one of the few survivors of a massive demonic attack on a Mars research facility.
The first-ever DOOM 3 Deathmatch Championship will be held at the 9th Annual QuakeCon video game festival and tournament, taking place Aug. 12-15 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Challengers will be competing for $150,000 in cash and prizes.
Warner Bros. is in the process of taking the highly successful DOOM property to the big screen. John Wells Prods. (ER, The West Wing, Far From Heaven) is producing the effects-laden, live-action feature with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Greg Silverman, VP of production at Warner Bros., is overseeing the project for production president Jeff Robinov.
