Game Show Network, home to new game shows like Lingo and Cram, as well as classic installments of favorites like Jeopardy and Let’s Make a Deal, will add video game-related programming to its lineup this fall.
The cable outlet’s gaming block will be will be anchored by two popular shows, Game Sauce and Gamer.Tv, produced by the U.K.’s Gamer.tv Limited. Between shows, a soon-to-be-named host will provide viewers with up-to-the minute video game news. The block will debut in the 5:00 -7:00 p.m. (ET)/2:00 – 4:00 p.m. (PT) time slot on Thursdays and will be repeated on Saturdays and Sundays at the same time.
To kick off the new programming on its premiere night, GSN will produce a documentary focusing on video games. The cabler’s first documentary, Big Bucks: The Press Your Luck Scandal garnered the network’s highest ratings ever.
GSN, now in more than 51 million homes, will air two half-hours of Game Sauce and one 30-minute episode of Gamer.Tv in the block. Both shows are topical and will present that week’s hottest video game news and products.
The video game block also presents the network with numerous product placement opportunities. The network is actively pursuing software developers, soft drink and fast food companies, wireless cell phone distributors and the automotive industry for product placement integration opportunities.
