EA Makes Harry Potter Appear in Stores

The Dementors of Azkaban Prison are after Harry, Hermione and Ron, and only some skillful button mashing can save them in Electronic Arts’ The Prisoner of Azkaban video game, now available for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and PC.

For the first time, gamers can play as friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, as well as Harry Potter, switching between characters and utilizing their key attributes and skills to resolve challenges and overcome enemies.

The game closely follows the film’s storyline as players work to unravel the mystery surrounding Sirius Black and his escape from the infamous wizard prison.

Licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the game is the first third-party title to fully utilize the EyeToy USB camera technology for PlayStation 2. The camera puts up to four players into the action with a series of Harry Potter themed games.

The title was developed by EA’s U.K. Studio, the team behind the Harry Potter library of games that have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. The game is rated “E” (Everyone) by the ESRB and lists at $39.95 for console platforms and $29.95 for PC and Game Boy Advance.
