Electronic Arts and LEGO Interactive are collaborating on a video game based on BIONICLE, the popular toy line that Miramax is developing into computer-animated direct-to-video and theatrical feature film projects. The game is slated to ship in fall 2003 for PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox and GameCube.
In BIONICLE, players become the six heroes of destiny known as the Tao, chosen to undertake the greatest challenge of all when sinister villain Makuta casts a shadow over their island paradise. Players help the characters evolve into the super Toa, or “Toa Nuva,” and eventually find the seventh Toa to combine their magical elemental powers and defeat the shadow of darkness.
The action unfolds in six elementally themed regions of the island of Mata Nui. Players master a unique blend of puzzle-solving skills as they navigate high mountains, great lakes and active volcanoes.
BIONICLE is being developed by Argonaut Games and will be co-published by EA and LEGO Interactive. The PC version of the game will contain special features that take advantage of the Intel Pentium 4 processor with hyper-threading technology to provide high-resolution art of 3D worlds.
