Having sold more than five million copies of Need for Speed Underground since its November 2003 release, Electronic Arts has announced that Need For Speed Underground 2 is on the way. The sequel is being developed by EA Canada under the EA GAMES brand.
Need for Speed Underground 2 will immerse gamers in the "tuner" culture with an expansive, free-roaming city divided into five distinct neighborhoods. Players will encounter rival racers who will initiate events, offer tips on the hottest racing spots and show them where to buy the most sought-after licensed aftermarket upgrades.
The game will feature new game modes, new performance customization and tuning, and more than 30 licensed cars. It also promises to deliver twice the visual customization upgrades as the original game, resulting in 70 billion possible car combinations.
Need for Speed Underground 2 is scheduled for a fall 2004 release for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, PC and Game Boy Advance. This game has not yet been rated by the ESRB.
