E3 News: MegaMan Powers Up E3 & Launches on Kids’ WB!

One of the best things about walking a trade show floor is running into old friends. AniMag bumped into ShoPro Entertainment VP John Easum and asked what the big smile on his face was all about. Easum replied, “Well, we launch MegaMan: NT Warrior this Saturday on Kids’ WB, and we’re here in several booths, including the MegaMan game series with Capcom.” Yup, that’s definitely a reason to be excited.

As you can see from these pics, the various iterations of MegaMan – including his first 3-D action/role-playing adventure for the Nintendo GameCube called MegaMan Network Transmission coming out soon – are gathering crowds at the show. In this wild new adventure MegaMan and Battle Network pal, Lan, are in trouble again. It’s only been a month since the evilWWW terrorist’s attempts to hijack an important military satellite was shut down. And, yet, Cyberspace is about to be hit by an even more resilient, never-seen-before-now virus, code-named "Zero". It’s up to you Lan and MegaMan to terminate this seemingly impermeable and decidedly relentless new enemy!”

On Saturday, May 17, Kids’ WB! launches ShoPro’s cyberadventures MegaMan: NT Warrior, right between powerhouse lead-in Jackie Chan Adventures and Pokemon: Master Quest as its lead-out. Based on the Shogakukan CoroCoro comic book, the MegaMan toon series is set in year 200X, where virtually all technology is linked to a central computer system. It’s up to our hero, tech-savvy Lan and his cyber alter-ego MegaMan to save the world from the dark forces in the digital universe.

The ShoPro toon has been a successful part of TV Tokyo’s lineup since March 2002. To date, MegaMan is one of the most popular comics in the CoroCoro series by Shogakukan with monthly sales of more than 1.5 million copies, and we have a feeling U.S. audiences are going to catch MegaMan fever in no time at all. Get ready to hear the show’s catch phrase: “Plug in…log on…and power up!” a lot in the next few months. For more info, visit http://www.shopro-entertainment.com and http://www.KidsWB.com.
