Wedge’s Leaf Men Staying With Fox, Blue Sky

Fox and Blue Sky Studios have given Ice Age and Robots director Chris Wedge the green light for an animated feature film titled Leaf Men.

Based on a William Joyce children’s book, the film had bounced around between Fox and Pixar, according to a report in Variety. The trade states that Wedge originally developed the project at Blue Sky and Fox, but began discussions for Pixar to make the film after the studio passed on the project and gave Wedge permission to shop it around.

After Pixar decided to make the film, they approached Fox to secure the rights only to find Fox had changed its mind and decided to make the film itself with Wedge at Blue Sky.

The book the film is based on tells the story of garden bugs who turn to the mythical Leaf Men to fend off an evil spider queen.
