Vancouver-based Nerd Corps Entertainment animation studio announced a partnership with Cineplex to bring Slugterra: Return of the Elementals to over 50 theaters across Canada on August 21 and 23. As a bonus, exclusive Slugterra slug figures not yet in stores will be given away to 25 lucky moviegoers at each theater. See cineplex.com/events for showtimes and ticket purchase.
The 70-minute movie builds on the story of the Slugterra TV series, which launched on Disney XD Canada in 2012 and now airs in over 170 countries, topping ratings for its kids 6-11 audience. In Return of the Elementals, Eli Shane — protector of Slugterra — and the Shane Gang meet a new member named Junjie. He is a master of the mysterious slugslinging art of Slug Fu. But even now that they have the power of five slingers, the Shane Gang find themselves in over their heads as they race to protect the ancient Elemental Slugs from an evil alliance set on destroying the 99 caverns.
The film will also have a limited release in select U.S. theaters starting August 2 in partnership with Shout! Factory and Screenvision — details at slugterraonscreen.com. An advance screening will be held at Comic-Con this Saturday, July 26 at 11:50 a.m., and fans can visit the Shout! booth for Slugterra giveaways.
