To prepare fans for the release next week of the new Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition DVD and Blu-ray, the Walt Disney Co. and NCM Fathom will screen a special sing-along version of the movie Sept. 29 and Oct. 2 in about 500 theaters nationwide.
The screenings are set for Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. local time and Oct. 2 at noon local time. To find a list of participating theaters and to buy tickets, visit Fathom Events online at www.fathomevents.com.
In addition to presenting the film with sing-along favorites, the screening event will include a behind-the-scenes look at the restoration of the film and a new music video from American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, as well as some surprise introductions, deleted scens and commentary from producer Don Hahn.
Originally released in 1991, Beauty and the Beast was nominated for a best-picture Oscar and is one of the most-beloved films in the Disney vault. In addition to the DVD release, the studio has been preparing a stereoscopic 3D version of the film to be released at a future date.
