Shrek Thrills Floridians, Hollywood Honeymooners
Following a successful debut at Universal Studios Hollywood, the multi-sensory, state-of-the-art attraction Shrek 4-D has opened in the theme park’s Orlando, Florida location. Thousands of guests donning Shrek ears and green painted faces were on hand to celebrate the grand opening and toast newlyweds Shrek and Fiona, who cut into the world’s largest wedding cake.
Picking up where the movie left off, Shrek 4-D combines original 3D animation and digital cinema projection and audio systems with unique in-theatre effects that audiences can see, hear and feel. The attraction reunites the comic talents of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow in a story that has the vengeful ghost of Lord Farquaad intent on spoiling Shrek’s and Fiona’s honeymoon.
For real honeymooners, Universal Studios Hollywood and the Sheraton Universal are offering the luxurious Shrek Honeymoon Suite. One of Sheraton Universal’s palatial executive suites has been elaborately transformed into a dwelling fit for a certain big, green movie star. Amenities include a living room area, breakfast nook and king-size bed.
Priced at $499 per night, the Shrek Honeymoon Suite offers champagne or green punch in ogre-green flutes, gingerbread cookies at turndown and warm mudbaths. The canopy bed is outfitted with green sheets and is adorned in moss and vines. In the bathroom, you’ll find green soap and green monogrammed towels.
