Revolution Studios announced that it will make a sequel to this spring’s CG-heavy box office hit, Hellboy. Writer/director Guillermo del Toro will be back at the helm with a story he developed with Mike Mignola, creator of the Hellboy comic book series published by Dark Horse Ent. Also returning for more monster mashing mayhem are producers Lawrence Gordon, Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Ent. and Lloyd Levin.
While it didn’t do Spider-Man money, Hellboy has pulled in close to $60 million domestically since it debuted in the No. 1 spot at the box office on April 2. The film has also cracked the top five in many overseas markets. It will kick off its European roll-out with France in August. Home video sales should be brisk as well.
