Just in time for the Memorial weekend, fanboy favorite Bryan Singer announced...
Potter Set To Weave Box Office Magic
Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the not so long awaited second film adaptation of the best-selling book series by J.K. Rowling, opens in theaters today. Fans only had to wait a year to see what happens next to their favorite wizard in training, and to take in a plethora of special effects by The Mill, MillFilm, ILM, MPC and more.
Director Chris Columbus is back at the helm, with Daniel Radcliffe returning in the title role. Kenneth Branagh joins the cast this time around as Hogwarts’ newest professor, Gilderoy Lockhart. Richard Harris, who recently passed away, reprises his role as Dumbledore in his final performance.
Opening in 3,682 theaters, Harry Potter should cast a powerful spell over the box office and knock Eminem’s 8 Mile out of the No.1 spot. The only other major newcomer, the Steven Seagal/Ja Rule actioner Half Past Dead, should do decent numbers but provide little competition for the family friendly franchise.
