At long last, the celebrated feature film from indie icon Bill Plympton, Cheatin’ will get its stateside premiere in Los Angeles. On August 15, the long-awaited launch will take place at the Downtown Independent Cinema on South Main Street (downtownindependent.com), with the director in attendance at evening shows through the weekend to greet theatergoers, do a Q&A, and give out sketches and autographs. The film will run at the Independent for one week, Aug. 15-21.
The traditionally animated film explores the complexity of adult relationships as a newlywed wife seeks to prove her love to her cheating husband by becoming his mistress. The film has proven a huge success in Europe, winning 10-plus international festival prizes, including the Annecy Jury Award this year. See the trailer and get more information at cheatinmovie.com.
