Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. Sequel, Brave Due in 2012

Disney-Pixar will release a sequel to the 2001 hit Monsters, Inc. on Nov. 16, 2012.

The film will be the second of two films the studio has set for release that year, with the original feature Brave (formerly titled The Bear and the Bow) set to hit theaters on June 15.

Other 2012 releases from the studio include the Tim Burton stop-motion animated feature Frankenweenie and the live-action John Carter of Mars, which is directed by Andrew Stanton.

The dates were set as part of an extensive slate of announcements made last week by Disney studio chairman Rich Ross.

Disney also will release early next year through its Touchstone label the animated feature Gnomeo & Juliet, which is produced by Elton John and Miramax.

The studio has previously announced its 2011 releases, which include the Pixar sequel Cars 2, a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean, and a new Muppet movie.
