One of the most successful animation producers in recent years, John H. Williams (Shrek, Valiant), has announced his next project: Phreex, an animated feature, revolves around a group of rejected lab animals. The film is based on a script by Matt Corman and Chris Ord. In the next few weeks, Williams will be in the process of looking for potential co-prod partners.
Also producing are Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, who worked with Williams on Shrek 2 and Shrek. This marks the producing debut for the two scribes. Hay and Manfred were instrumental in bringing Corman and Ord to William’s attention.
Williams is also the CEO of Vanguard Animation, whose first CG-animated feature Valiant, about WWII fighting pigeons, will be making its U.S. debut in theaters on August 19. Directed by Gary Chapman, the toon showcases the voice talents of Ewan McGregor, John Cleese, Tim Curry, Ricky Gervais and Hugh Laurie.
