A new trailer offers a more detailed look at Sony’s upcoming animation/live-action adaptation of The Smurfs, including plot details explaining how the little blue dudes end up in New York City.
Here’s the trailer:
The Smurfs movie is set to be released July 29. It is directed by Raja Gosnell, written by J. David Stern and David N. Weiss, and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria. Voices for the Smurfs include Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Paul Reubens, George Lopez, Fred Armisen and John Oliver.
The movie is, of course, adapted from the original Belgian comic strip by Peyo and the popular 1980s animated TV series.
