A week ago, we showed you the new poster to ParaNorman, the upcoming new 3D stop-motion feature from LAIKA, the studio that made Coraline.

Now, we’ve got the trailer. Check it out:

Slated for an Aug. 17 release date, the movie is directed by Sam Fell (Flushed Away, Astro Boy) and Chris Butler (storyboard supervisor on Coraline, Corpse Bride and Tarzan II), who also wrote the screenplay.

The plot centers on a local boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee), who can speak with the dead, which is a good skill to have when your town comes under siege from zombies, ghosts, witches, moronic grown-ups, and a centuries-old curse.  The voice cast also includes Casey Affleck, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintze-Plasse, Bernard Hill, Tempestt Bledsoe, Elaine Stritch, and Anna Kendrick. Focus Features will release the movie.
