Under a new pact between Disney and India’s Yash Raj Films, the two companies will join forces to co-produce a new animated film titled Roadside Romeo. The CG-animated movie will be produced by Aditya Chopra and written and directed by Jugal Hansraj. Both companies are equal partners and will contribute creative, tech and financial support to the endeavor.
Plans are underway to release the film in at least three languages’Hindi, Tamil and Telugo. Bollywood thesps Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have already signed to provide voices for the feature.
Roadside Romeo is set to be the first in series of joint projects between the two outfits. The state-of-the-art CG animation will be created entirely in India. Chopra will oversee the production of one animated movie per year’with budgets ranging from $4 million to $10 million.
