Hybrid Indie ‘Death of a Superhero’ to Get U.S. Release

Death of a Superhero, a feature film about a teenage cartoonist with cancer that mixes animated sequences with live-action, has been picked up for North American distribution by Tribeca Film.

The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and will get a 2012 release in theaters and on VOD from Tribeca.

The movie is directed by Ian FitzGibbon and written by Anthony McCarten, adapting his own novel. It stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Andy Serkis, Jessica Schwarz and Aisling Loftus.

The screenplay of Superhero is adapted by Anthony McCarten, who also wrote the novel on which the film is based. A production of Bavaria Pictures and Grand Pictures, movie is produced by Astrid Kahmke, Philipp Kreuzer and Michael Garland.
