Those watching the Superbowl specifically for the commercials got a sneak peek at Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated big-screen adaptation of Marvel Comics’ The Incredible Hulk. ABC aired a trailer for the film, titled simply The Hulk, which offered the first glimpses of ILM’s CG version of the mean green avenger.
The Hulk is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ang Lee (The Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and stars Eric Bana as Bruce Banner, a scientist who becomes a prime candidate for anger management when an experiment goes horribly awry. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Nick Nolte and Sam Elliot.
The Hulk is produced by Gail Anne Hurd, Avi Arad, James Schamus and Larry Franco from a script by Schamus. It will be released nationwide on June 20, 2003. The trailer can be downloaded at the film’s official website, www.thehulk.com.
Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in a special taped segment that welcomed viewers to Superbowl XXXVII and introduced the broadcast premiere of the trailer for Warner Bros. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The sequel showcases visual effects by ILM and Stan Winston Studio.
Also previewed during the event were Village Roadshow’s two upcoming Matrix sequels, The Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions, as well as Fox’s adaptation of Daredevil.
